Dental Implants

Dental implants are often a preferred alternative to dentures or bridges that may be uncomfortable, not conservative of tooth structure or difficult to fit to a patient’s mouth. Dental implant surgery replaces missing or damaged teeth with lifelike artificial teeth. 

Depending on the nature of the implant and the strength and integrity of the jawbone, dental implant surgery may require several procedures. The jawbone will need to recover between procedures to ensure that the implant is sitting securely before initiating the next stage of the procedure. Since a prosthetic tooth is placed on the implant, the implant must be a solid support and therefore the health of the jawbone is an important consideration.
